About Rick Hayes and Hayes Mandolins

Well, I (Rick's wife and webmaster) decided to keep things very basic with this website. The simple truth is Rick loves music and started playing at the age of 8, and he's been performing, recording and producing music ever since.

He's put together a few electric guitars in his day, and even created a sculpted Bugs Bunny guitar for Warner Brothers once upon a time -- but his true passion these days is in building bluegrass mandolins from a player's perspective. The melding of rich tone, ease of play, and handcrafted artistry are built into every instrument.

Rick is on the road a lot these days with The Gibson Brothers, so if you would like to see one "up close and personal" we may just be driving by your neck of the woods.
